چکیده

Introduction. Currently, despite the introduction of modern diagnostic algorithms in 20-40 % patients with ischemic stroke, it is not possible to establish its cause. Potential causes acute cerebral ischemia cryptogenic stroke include paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, patent foramen ovale, cardiomyopathy, carotid network, aortic arch atheroma, and cancer-associated thrombophilia. Target : systematize data on methods for diagnosing preventing atheroma. Material . The literature search was carried out electronic systems Scopus, eLibrary, PubMed using key words: pathogenesis stroke. Results At present, such a detailed study therapeutic strategies prevention recurrent thrombotic events none drugs has proven advantage. Although NAVIGATE ESUS RESPECT trials did show superiority oral anticoagulants over antiplatelet agents strokes found that heterogeneous, which requires differentiated approach secondary prevention. Conclusion Аortic atheroma can be cause embolic syndrome main are transesophageal echocardiography computed tomographic angiography. strategy treatment lipid-lowering, antithrombotic therapy combination blockers renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.

Aortic arch atheroma progression and recurrent vascular events in patients with stroke or transient ischemic attack.

BACKGROUND It is not known whether progression of aortic arch (AA) atheroma is associated with vascular events in patients with stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). METHODS AND RESULTS AA atheroma was detected on baseline transesophageal echocardiogram in 167 consecutive patients who had prevalent stroke or TIA. Of these, 125 consented to a follow-up transesophageal echocardiogram at 12...

Periodontal Pockets as a Potential Source of Infection: a Case of Possible Odontogenic Septic Pulmonary Embolism

Although dental foci can be sources of bacteremia and bacterial endocarditis, hematogenous spread of infection presented with septic pulmonary embolism apparently is rare. The occurrence of septic pulmonary embolism in patients with periodontal disease without suppurative thrombophlebitis of the great vessels of the neck is well documented but to our knowledge, there is no report on septic pulm...

Complex Atheromatosis of the Aortic Arch in Cerebral Infarction

In many stroke patients it is not possible to establish the etiology of stroke. However, in the last two decades, the use of transesophageal echocardiography in patients with stroke of uncertain etiology reveals atherosclerotic plaques in the aortic arch, which often protrude into the lumen and have mobile components in a high percentage of cases. Several autopsy series and retrospective studie...

Pediatric arterial ischemic stroke.

Arterial ischemic stroke (AIS) is a rare disorder in children. Research suggests that risk factors, outcomes, and presentation are different from those of adult stroke. In particular, prothrombotic abnormalities and large vessel arteriopathies that are nonatherosclerotic seem to play a large role in the pathogenesis of childhood AIS. This review examines the epidemiology and etiologies of neona...
